  It has been said that a prophet is not without honor, except in his own country. In modern-day terms, it might be said that respect and admiration can be more difficult to receive from those who are closest to us and know us best.
  
  Having grown up with Pastor Brian Swillum (I'm his older brother), I would have to say that in his case, the OPPOSITE of the old saying is true. In fact, those who know Brian best, admire and respect him the most.
  
  Brian's humility, desire to serve, passion for Christ, and dedication to his calling make sitting under his preaching and teaching a true blessing for anyone sincerely seeking Christ. Brian has also studied extensively so that he might "rightly divide the word of truth", enabling him through the power of God to bring both the "milk" and "meat" of the scriptures to his flock.
  
  I would encourage anyone in the Escanaba area considering a new church home to go to Calvary Baptist Church to find out what "church" can really be when led by a man fully surrendered to the will of God and 100% dedicated to bringing glory to Our Savior.
